From Client to Colleague: Seeing the Agency Side of Marketing

I started working with RED66 Marketing as client back in 2009. They nailed their goal which was to support sales efforts, sales team and lead marketing communications via website updates, optimization, social media content/engagement, and email marketing. From my perspective, the agency made marketing look effortless. Campaigns launched seamlessly, social media posts appeared on schedule, website organic traffic grew, everything happened at exactly the right time. From outside, it all seemed easy—like magic.

Joining RED66

Fast forward to 2025, and I’ve joined the agency as part of the team. The perspective shift has been eye-opening. I was assigned several tasks, but one area really stands out. I was to update SEO titles, meta description, slugs, keywords and featured images. I knew where the information went in the admin area of a website, but I didn’t realize why or what drove it to work. I was always given that information, never had to create it or really understand what it was driving. The team at RED66 mentioned the importance of this information and provided so much education but honestly it went over my head. I never really got it, but boy do I now.

 

What I thought was just there was the result of intense strategy, creativity, collaboration, and hard work. Behind every client is a team that works long hours, with countless revisions, detailed analytics, and constant problem-solving.

What Really Goes Into Marketing

As a client, I saw one company and one project. Inside the agency, I now see 50+ projects moving simultaneously, each with its own timeline, challenges, and personalities. The coordination, prioritization, and dedication it takes to keep everything running smoothly is staggering.

 

The team at RED66 isn’t just completing tasks, they care deeply about the success of every client, every project. That passion translates into results that clients notice. Experiencing that as a client was inspiring; being part of it now is humbling.

 

Being on the inside has given me a new respect for the work that goes into making marketing look easy. I now understand the delicate balance between client expectations, agency capacity, and creative ambition.
