Personally, I connected with a previous professor, which is how I found out about my first agency role. Don’t be afraid to reach out, ask questions, and let people know you’re looking.

Get Involved in Your Local Marketing Community

Attend local advertising events, networking meetups, or industry panels in your area. Not only will you learn more about the industry, but you’ll also meet people who are already working at agencies.

A lot of agency teams (including ours) attend these events, and they’re a great, low-pressure way to start building connections.

Build a Portfolio (Even If You Don’t Have “Real” Experience Yet)

You don’t need a full-time job to prove your skills. Create mock campaigns, redesign a brand you love, build social media strategies, or analyze real companies and share your ideas.

Agencies want to see how you think, your creativity, your strategy, and your ability to solve problems. A strong portfolio can set you apart quickly.

Be Curious and Willing to Learn
